A term GPA is the credit-weighted average: multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, and divide by the total credits. Your CGPA does the same over every semester, so add the points from earlier semesters (CGPA so far × credits completed) before dividing. Some universities use their own scale; check your academic rules.

    SSC and HSC GPA

    Education boards grade each subject out of 5: 80–100 marks is A+ (5), 70–79 is A (4), 60–69 is A− (3.5), 50–59 is B (3), 40–49 is C (2), 33–39 is D (1) and below 33 is F (0).

    • Add up the grade points of the main subjects and divide by how many there are.
    • For the 4th (optional) subject, only the grade points above 2 are added. An A+ in it adds 3, a B adds 1, and a C, D or F adds nothing, so it can’t lower your GPA.
    • The GPA can’t go above 5.00, and an F in any main subject is a fail.

    CGPA to percentage (India)

There is no single formula: each board or university sets its own, usually printed on the marksheet. CBSE’s is CGPA × 9.5, so 8.4 is 79.8%. Several engineering universities, such as VTU, use (CGPA − 0.75) × 10, so 8.4 is 76.5%. Choose My university’s own formula to use any other.

    Questions

What is the difference between GPA and CGPA?

GPA is for one semester or one exam; CGPA (cumulative GPA) covers every semester so far, weighted by credits.

Is a CGPA of 3.50 good in Bangladesh?

On the 4.00 scale, 3.50 is an A− average. Many scholarships and jobs ask for 3.00 or more, and some for 3.50, but each sets its own bar.

Can I raise my CGPA much in my final semesters?

Less each semester, because the earlier credits keep counting. With 100 credits at 3.20, a 15-credit semester at 4.00 lifts the CGPA to (320 + 60) ÷ 115 ≈ 3.30.
